Loch Ness Cove Park Improvement Initiative: Phased Erosion & Bulkhead Repairs

🌿 Park Improvement Initiative Update

The Loch Ness Cove Property Owners Association (POA) is actively working to preserve and improve our neighborhood park through a multi-phase initiative focused on shoreline protection, stormwater management, and long-term sustainability. Each phase targets critical infrastructure along the boat launch and shoreline areas, with progress dependent on both professional assessments and available funding.

We’re excited to share the latest progress on our multi-phase improvement project focused on stabilizing erosion and repairing bulkheads around the boat launch area. These efforts are essential for preserving the long-term safety, usability, and appearance of our community park.

✅ Phase 1: Stormwater Drainage Repairs

Status: ✅ Completed – September 20, 2025
Objective: Repair and replace defective stormwater drainage on the south side of the boat launch that was contributing to erosion and weakening the adjacent bulkhead.

Scope of Work Completed:

Full assessment of existing drainage issues
Replacement of collapsed drainage systems
Restoration of proper water flow

🧱 Phase 2: Bulkhead – South Side of Boat Launch

Status: 🚧 In Progress
Objective: Stabilize and partially repair the compromised bulkhead impacted by erosion and prior drainage failure.

Scope of Work:

✔ Assess damage and finalize repair strategy (in progress)
Finalize assessment and develop repair plan
Source funding
Hire qualified contractor
Backfill and restore the surrounding property

Next Steps:

Continue planning and coordination
Begin acquiring needed materials
Organize work crews and support

🛠️ Phase 3: Bulkhead – North Side of Boat Launch

Status: ⏳ Not Started
Objective: Replace the bulkhead on the north side of the boat launch following the completion of Phases 1 and 2.

Scope of Work:

Finalize assessment and develop repair plan
Source funding
Hire qualified contractor
Backfill and restore the surrounding property

🌲 Phase 4: Bulkhead – Far North Side of the Park

Status: ⏳ Not Started
Objective: Replace the steel bulkhead at the park’s far north side with a wood structure for greater durability and consistency with other repairs.

Scope of Work:

Finalize assessment and develop repair plan
Source funding
Hire qualified contractor
Backfill and restore the surrounding property

Continue sourcing funds through grants and donations
